Phone Housing & Frame Repair at Taigum Square
The housing is the frame around the edge of your phone, and on many models the back as well. Bent or dented, it can lift the screen, jam the buttons and stop the SIM tray sitting flush. We replace housings on iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones, and on other models when the part is available.
Signs the Frame Is the Problem
- The phone rocks on a flat table, or a bend shows when you look along the edge
- A dented corner presses on the screen, or the glass has cracked out from that corner
- Volume or power buttons feel stuck, loose or do nothing
- The SIM tray, if your phone has one, won't go in or come out
A Gap Without a Drop? Check the Battery First
If the screen is lifting away from the frame and the phone hasn't been dropped, the usual cause is a swollen battery, not a bent housing. Stop charging it, don't press the screen back down, and bring it in soon. Mention the gap at the counter.
What a Housing Swap Involves
A new housing means rebuilding the phone around a new frame: the screen, battery, cameras, charging port and speakers all move across. Before you collect it we test touch, Face ID or the fingerprint reader, the cameras, charging, calls and the buttons. On many Galaxy phones the new frame comes fitted to a new screen, so a bent frame and a cracked screen are one repair.
It takes longer than a screen or battery repair, and housings are made for each model and colour, so yours may need ordering. We'll tell you how long before you leave the phone with us.
Honest Limits
- A slight bend can sometimes be eased back, but straightening strains the screen and the parts inside; a badly bent phone needs a new housing
- Replacement housings are aftermarket parts, close to the original in colour and finish but not always identical
- A knock that bends the frame can damage other parts too; you'll hear about anything the free check finds before any work starts
- Once a phone has been opened, by anyone, treat it as no longer water resistant
