Why Fix a Cracked Back?
- Loose splinters can cut fingers, and more glass flakes off the longer you leave it
- The phone is no longer sealed, so dust and moisture can get in through the cracks
- Cracks near the camera bump can reach the lens covers, and a cracked lens cover makes photos hazy or flared
What Happens at the Bench
On many phones the back glass is bonded on with strong adhesive. We warm it to soften the glue, lift the old glass off (often in pieces), and clean the frame of old adhesive and glass. The new panel goes on with fresh adhesive, and we test the phone before you collect it, including the cameras and wireless charging if your phone has it.
How Long It Takes
Back glass is slower work than a screen or a battery, so most are ready the same day rather than within the hour. If the panel for your model and colour has to be ordered, we'll tell you how long before you decide.
When New Glass Isn't the Answer
- If the frame is bent, new glass won't sit flat. A new housing is the fix then, and the free check will show it
- Replacement panels are aftermarket glass. They come in each model's colours, but the shade or finish can differ slightly from the original
- Opening the back ends the phone's factory water resistance, so keep it away from water afterwards
Before You Come In
- Put clear packing tape over the back to hold loose glass in place on the way
- Back up first. The repair doesn't touch your data, but it's worth having a copy
- Back glass repairs carry our 180-day warranty on parts and labour. It covers the glass lifting or a fault in our work, not a new crack from another drop
