Following the landmark ACCC v Apple court case in 2018, having your screen repaired by a third-party provider like Mr. Phone Taigum should not void your manufacturer's warranty. However, other repairs such as battery replacements or housing repairs may affect your warranty depending on the manufacturer's specific terms. We recommend checking with your manufacturer if you're unsure.

Our 180-day repair warranty (90 days for batteries) is voided if:

Physical damage after repair — drops, cracks, bends, or impact damage that occurs after we've returned the device to you.

Liquid or moisture damage — exposure to water, spills, or humidity after the repair. Please note that repairs may reduce your device's original water resistance rating.

Unauthorised modifications — if another repair shop or individual opens or modifies the device after our repair, the warranty on our work is voided.

Software issues — problems caused by operating system updates, app conflicts, or software-related faults are not covered.

Misuse or neglect — using the device outside the manufacturer's intended conditions, or damage from accessories not designed for the device.

Removed or tampered serial numbers — if the device serial number has been altered or removed.

Normal wear and tear and cosmetic damage (scratches, scuffs) that don't affect functionality are also not covered. If you're unsure whether an issue falls under warranty, just bring it in and we'll take a look — no charge for the assessment.

Yes, we strongly recommend it. While data loss during repair is rare, it can happen — particularly with screen replacements and motherboard-related work. We are not responsible for any data loss that occurs during the repair process. Please back up via iCloud, Google Drive, Samsung Cloud, or to your computer before your appointment.

Major phone brands (Apple, Samsung, Google) do not sell parts directly to independent repairers in Australia, so like the vast majority of independent repair shops, we source high-grade equivalent components from reputable suppliers. Most common repairs — screen replacements, battery swaps, charging port repairs — are completed in 30 to 60 minutes while you wait. More complex repairs or those requiring special-order parts may take longer, and we'll let you know the expected timeframe when you drop off your device. Both are welcome. Walk-ins are served on a first-come, first-served basis. If you'd like to guarantee a time slot — especially on weekends or during busy periods — booking online is recommended. We're open 7 days a week, including most public holidays, with late-night trading until 8pm on Thursdays.

If we assess your device and determine that a repair isn't possible or isn't cost-effective, we'll let you know upfront and you won't be charged for the diagnostic. We'll also advise you on alternative options where possible.

If your device originally had a water resistance rating (e.g. IP67 or IP68), please be aware that any repair — whether by us, Apple, or any other repairer — may reduce the water resistance of your device. We recommend treating your device as non-water-resistant after any repair and using a protective case if moisture exposure is a concern.
